Kwesi Asante, Master Carver
Hey there, I want you to meet one of our master carvers, Kwesi Asante, busy at work hand-carving a 5-head interlocking unity from a solid block of wood in Ghana. Pictured on the left in the 2nd picture, I even gave it a try and almost chopped off my fingers. It’s a marvel to watch him do it.
Asante is a 3rd generation carver and a pillar in his community, employing scores of carvers in his large craft shop. This has given much needed employment in the area. He also involves several villages in his trade which boosts the local economy. He is a community activist who believes in education and works to improve the quality of life in his neighborhood.
